Dr Abdul Razakjr Omar has more than 25 years of clinical experience. He graduated in medicine from National University of Singapore in 1994. He obtained Masters in Internal medicine from National University of Singapore and membership of the royal college of physician in 2000. He was accredited as a cardiologist in 2004. He was then awarded the Higher Medical Development Plan (HMDP) award in 2005 to do cardiology fellowship in University of Toronto, Toronto General Hospital, University Health Network. He was conferred as a fellow of the academy of medicine Singapore (cardiology) in 2005 and the American College of Cardiology in 2006.


He was the consultant cardiologist and Clinical Director, Cardiac Electrophysiology and Pacing in the National University Heart Centre, Singapore till 2010. Thereafter he joined Raffles Heart Center, Singapore  as a consultant cardiologist. He was made managing partner in 2015 and appointed as deputy medical director of Raffles Hospital in 2017. Academic profession, he has been appointed as assistant professor in the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore since 2009. He was also adjunct. associate professor, Lee Kong Chian/Imperial College London School of Medicine, NTU since  2016.

 
Dr Abdul Razakjr’s  clinical practices include general cardiology and cardiac arrhythmia, particularly clinical conditions like palpitation, fainting and sudden cardiac arrest. He performs cardiac catheterization study and interventional therapy inclusive of minimally invasive, percutaneous coronary intervention, cardiac electrophysiology study, radiofrequency catheter ablation and implantation of pacemakers and cardioverter defibrillators.


Apart from teaching medical students and fellows, Dr Abdul Razakjr has been invited as lecturer and faculty for local and international cardiology meetings. He was also involved in scientific research and his works were published in peer reviewed international journals. He was the Specialty Editor of the Singapore Medical Journal (SMJ) in 2014. He was also elected as the Honorary Secretary of the Singapore Medical Association (SMA) in 2008.


Dr Abdul Razakjr is committed to giving back to society. He is a boardmember of National Kidney Foundation (NKF), Singapore and the previous chairman, of the outreach committee, NKF. Currently he is the chairman  Medifund Committee, Ang Mo Kio- Thye Hua Kwan Hospital and he also volunteer as member of People’s Association, Ang Mo Kio Community Club Management Committee (CCMC). A/Prof. Abdul Razakjr  sits in Singapore Medical Council’s (SMC) Complaints Panel.


He was the member of the Board of Trustee for Singapore Institute of Technology (Singapore’s 5th autonomous university) from September 2009 till August 2012.Then he was also appointed as member of Academic Advisory Committee of the Singapore Institute of Technology.

Notably, he was appointed as Member of Inquiry Panel (Appointed by the Honourable the Chief Justice on the 15th April 2014).He was also appointed as member of the committee to review the salaries of the President, Prime Minister, Political Appointment Holders and Members of Parliament, in 2017.

In 2013 he was conferred Berita Harian, Singapore Press Holding, Achiever of the Year award.
