Dr Teo Swee Guan has more than 25 years of clinical experience. He obtained his MBBS (Hons) and BSc (Medicine) from the University of New South Wales, Australia in 1996. He subsequently completed his medical training in UK with full General Medical Council registration and has been a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) since 1999.

 

In 2005, Dr Teo was awarded the Higher Medical Development Plan (HMDP) award to do a fellowship in Cardiology in Germany and USA. He underwent subspecialty training in Interventional Cardiology at the Siegburg Heart Center, Germany and in Vascular Medicine and Peripheral Intervention at the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, USA. He was conferred as a fellow of the Academy of Medicine Singapore (Cardiology) in 2004, the American College of Cardiology (FACC) in 2011, and the Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Intervention, USA (SCAI) in 2012.

 

Dr Teo was previously a Senior Consultant and Clinical Director of the Coronary Care Unit at the National University Heart Centre. He was also Deputy Director of Vascular Laboratory at the National University Heart Centre. In 2013, he joined Raffles Heart Centre as a consultant cardiologistand served as a member of the critical care committee.

As an assistant professor in the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, Dr Teo was involved in teaching medical students and fellows. Additionally, he has been invited as lecturer and faculty for many local and international cardiology meetings. Dr Teo was also involved in scientific research, with works published in peer-reviewed international journals.

Dr Teo practices general cardiology, interventional cardiology, peripheral vascular disease, and heart failure. He performs cardiac catheterization, percutaneous coronary intervention, as well as non-invasive tests such as echocardiography, ambulatory blood pressure, ambulatory ECG, and treadmill exercise stress tests.

 

Dr Teo is able to converse in multiple languages, namely English, Mandarin, Hokkien, Cantonese, and Bahasa Melayu.

 

Outside of clinical work, Dr Teo is an avid cyclist. You can spot him cycling with his team on roads and park connector networks.
